Tooty-Toot-Toot!

Just wanted to check in. I hope everyone has been having fun with the A to Z. There are a lot of cool subjects that peeps have been blogging about.

Anyway my days off this week have been busy running errands for the Sweetman. He got good news on Monday. The cancer is at 1% in his body. Two weeks from Monday, he begins his final week of chemo.

Today, Secondhand Shoes received another 5 star review. GO HERE TO READ and I was interviewed by Lucy Pireel over at her blog GO HERE.

Hugs and chocolate,

The Indie Life: Being Polite

IndieLife7sm

Today, is the day we help support and give some advice to fellow Indies. If you’re interested in this group that posts the second Wednesday of the month, click the link to the left of your screen.

My mother’s mother used to tell me, “One can attract bees with honey… and flies, for that matter.” As I got older, I understood it to be take care in how you deliver bits of information. Be polite. Always provide some sugar with the bad news. One can tell the truth while they handle the other person with care.

Not that this is going to be old news, but I’ve seen some really brash comments all over cyberspace again, lately. Authors slashing authors. Indies slashing Indies.

As adults, we should already know how to play nice in the sandbox. I got bullied in my high school days and I’m not into it now as I approach the big FIVE O. Especially in being part of the MEAN KID CROWD.

Since I’ve been out here, I’ve only given one bad review. But left it as a diamond that needed to be polished. Instead of being MEAN, we should be helping other writers with their craft.

Everyone that writes is an artist even if they’re self published, have formatting problems, missing words, a crappy cover, and have a comma issue going on.

Deliver some sugar to these folks. Bartering is one way.

I hope everyone has a chocolate filled day. Remember to play nice in the sandbox and share your cookies.

Hugs and chocolate,

Shelly

Psychic Sylvia Browne

psychic silvia Sylvia Browne is a self-proclaimed psychic and medium who has forty-seven titles to her name and has appeared on many talk shows. She frequents Montel William’s show and Larry King. In 1974, she gave her first reading. She claims to know what heaven is like, sees angels, speaks to a spirit guide named Francine, and is able to predict the future.

Many experts say she uses a cold read technique equal to a mentalist to do her readings. This said, she could be a fraud. Wikipedia gives a list of her failed  readings and YouTube has clips of her being exposed as a charlatan.

She also has a church in Campbell, California, the Society of Novus Spiritus. Although, she claims to be a Gnostic Christian, her teachings include other religious beliefs. Buddhism, Hinduism, etc. The church and its teaching believe God loves everyone including atheists and everyone goes to The Other Side-heaven.

While researching her info, I found her website. She charges 550 dollars for readings and her son, Chris, charges 200. But Wikipedia stated on their website, Ms. Brown charges 850 dollars for a twenty or thirty minute reading.

After researching Ms. Browne, I came to this conclusion: buyer beware. The world is full of smooth talkers who know how to market themselves as experts. They prey on the most vulnerable in their time of need.

So do real psychics exist? Eventually I’ll do a post on this. But over the next several months, I’ll be posting on all the popular ones. What I’m finding is a lot of disappointments, both in the psychics and the TV personalities who promote them.

I’m still a Ninja Writer, but I keep forgetting to post my numbers. Right now I have twelve organized chapters to Yellow Prada’s. I’m even considering another title, Stilettos. What do you all think?

Yellow Prada’s

Pastor Dale floated toward my bed. “Sometimes the living and the dead unleash things into their lives unwittingly.” His expression went gloomy.

“What did I do now?”

“Its all about the path you chose. When you choose the wrong one, sometimes things happen like a domino effect. Even when you attempt to correct things.” Pastor Dale took my hand into his cold one. “You have a fight on your hands, but God will be with you.”

“I know.” Gram had already warned me.

“Remember this, demons come in many forms. Even as people we know and love,” Pastor Dale said before he vanished into thin air. “Sometimes they seek out to kill.”

I hope everyone has a great weekend. I’ll be loppity-lopping of course.

Hugs and chocolate,
