I know. I know. I'm late to the celebration today. Had to get my quiet time and exercise in before anything else. Two more things I celebrate. Oh and the fever and chills I had yesterday are gone! Hooray! Hooray!
I'm also celebrating that when my focus is off to write my stories, I write chapter summaries. The last couple of days that's how I've been working on Killer Stilettos. Even though I feel like I'm not making progress, I am.
Lipstick is another thing I'm celebrating this week. For several years, I've been wearing Maybelline color 325, known as Cinnamon Stick. Well, they no longer make it. And this is what is left of my favorite color. A nub. That's it!
So I stepped out of the box and tried a color from Rimmel. But it was too orange and bled below my lip. Scary! It reminded me of the color my third grade teacher, Mrs. Bear Claw wore. Most of the time she had a smear of it across her yellow teeth
Then I tried a color from Cover Girl. But it was too red and orange. My lips looked like a neon sign!
The Sweetman came up with a solution. "I'll take you to the MAC store."
If you've followed this blog for a while then you all know I hate going shopping.
So the Sweetman enticed me to come with a dinner at The Cheesecake Factory. After, I sucked it up and found a color I liked at the MAC store.
It comes pretty close to my original fav. The color is Fresh Moroccan. It works. Just enough red and orange. This is something to celebrate!
Also, I wish to celebrate A to Z Theme. I'm limiting myself to posting a picture giving everyone a clue as to what is coming at you in Killer Stilettos, my next book from the Lila's Journey Series. I figured it would be the easiest thing for me to do since this is an insanely, crazy time.
That's all for now folks. I've got to get ready for work. I'll be there until 9 tonight. So I will be around reading blogs in between heads of hair.
Have a great weekend and Happy Shabbats if you practice! See you all on Monday.
Hugs and chocolate!
Shelly
Glad you found a lipstick you like! That happened to me when Estee Lauder discontinued the color I liked. It's not easy to find a new one!
ReplyDeleteIt makes me crazy not to have the right color.
DeleteIt can be so tricky finding the perfect color of lipstick. Glad you found one you like. Picture clues sounds like an interesting twist for your story. I like the idea of making chapter summaries when you're blocked. It never hurts to get to know our work better.

I've a little unfocused lately so writing summaries have been a help.
DeleteHave fun with the theme, Shelly!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sir Wills.
DeleteI have one similar in color to your final choice but I do wear a color very similar to the second choice with a touch more orange to it. I'm an autumn in colors and love rich colors so I can wear red but not too many Cover girl--color doesn't last.
ReplyDeleteYay, another woman who hates to shop. Me too. I almost lost my girl card over it. :-).

Shopping is an anxiety filled sport for me. My mom traumatized me at an early age over it.
DeleteI remember buying a lipstick almost that color in Nancy, France as a young 16 year old tourist. It became my favorite and of course irreplaceable but I still have a tiny bit for a souvenir.
ReplyDeleteI will be saving my Maybelline nub.
DeleteHello, nice to meet you Shelly. I found you on 'Celebrate'.
ReplyDeleteIt's good to celebrate quiet time. I, too, like cinnamon-colour lipstick, and after using it for years I recently bought a pearly pink. I've really grown to like this. I suppose it's just trial-and-error?
All the best with your writing and Killer Stilettos novel.
Thank you. And thank you for stopping by. I'll have to stop at yours. I'm behind getting around.
DeleteI hate when they don't keep making a particular color of make-up. I went to try and find my black eye liner, and Wally World quit having a particular brand, and then I don't know if if was Rimmel that had once only been .99, and went up to over $3 for one frigging eyebrow pencil, I said forget it. I'll go find something at the dollar store. I don't get into lipstick much. I use Blistex mainly.
ReplyDeleteGlad you found something you liked, Shelly. Interesting blog. Have fun!
I try to be interesting.
DeleteIt's so frustrating when they discontinue your favorite lipstick. Sounds like you found a winner in both your husband, and the new color! Your A to Z theme will be great! Thanks for the helpful vinegar tip!
ReplyDeleteJulie
You're welcome. Vinegar works for so many things.

ReplyDeleteMy computer doesn't spell very well. Make that bought rather than ought.
ReplyDeleteNow I am going to try again. I bought some colors I thought I would like. I did not. So I often put a lighter color over a darker one and the turn out satisfactory.
DeleteI like the idea of writing story outlines. I might give that a try.
It's okay, Yvonne. For some reason I couldn't answer you until now.
DeleteIt's so annoying when cosmetic companies delete our favourite items.
ReplyDeleteAnd vinegar is brilliant ... for so many things!
Vinegar is a wonderful thing.
DeleteMrs. Bear Claw? Do I dare ask how she got that name?
ReplyDeleteIt was a name I made in my head for her. It stuck bc I can't remember her real on. Anyway, she always wore a scowl and was short with everyone.
DeleteLove this post. It reminds me of Mickey Rooney's Red Lipstick and Wrinkles! Now I am not one for red lipstick which is no doubt from something my mother told me years ago. I go for more nude looking sheer colors for my lips but I have to say your new color looks fabulous! Is there a conspiracy going on with cosmetics because Cover Girl dropped the entire NatureLux line and now my cosmetic bag is empty. They offered nothing comparable.
