Television: Fifty Shades of Poop

The last month or so I've been doing my posts on subliminal messaging through television. For me, it's been eye-opening. But this time I thought I would do a short blog about Fifty Shades of Grey aka Fifty Shades of Poop.

This Valentine's Day people treated themselves to this romantic, loving SNM movie.

Just to let you know, I prefer roses, dinner, and some cuddling personally. Now that's romance. I'm not into toxic relationships.

Anyway, my question is ... WHAT IS THIS KIND OF MOVIE TELLING OUR DAUGHTERS? It's okay to eat poop? Seriously!

How many years did it take us women to get the courts to take domestic violence seriously? Am I making my point clear without saying too much? Am I getting y'll thinking? There are messages in what we're watching whether we see or hear them consciously or subconsciously.

Before I go, I'll leave you an Eminem and Rhianna music video: Love the Way You Lie.  Talk about a strong message. My conscious mind totally gets this one.
Let me know what y'll think.

Have a great week!

Hugs and chocolate!
Shelly

  1. I can't muster enough interest to click either video. No whisk, spatula or baker's half sheets? Nah ... not interested in this kind of TV or books.

    1. Happy Whisk, I knew you were smart. I just knew it.

    2. I have to come clean. At first I thought 50 Shades was about hair dye. No idea it was a book. Either way, not interested.

  2. It is not that this book and movie is about the subjection of a woman but that every one is ok with it. We are all so PC and if we are not then we are those awful conservatives.
We see the violence against women and children everyday. At lest I do living here at the border with Mexico and it is not air brushed pretty. It is violence and death nothing pretty and wonderful.
Much like all the Twilight books, all the girls were so in love with Bella and a man who stalked and controlled her.
Great role models or even just behavior that
    accepted.

    1. It's very scary to me and disrespectful to all women.

  3. What a disturbing trailer. Control is the theme that strikes me the most (no pun intended). It seems to me that PC has made many people afraid to say no. They are shamed into going along.

Might the popularity of this 50 shades of tripe be a reflection of our society- more accepting of other's control as evidenced by so many willing to give up freedom? Shamed into it by PC. It's a bit like being back in jr. high school- some choose to give up control to be accepted by the cool crowd.

  4. I've always been more of a reader than TV watcher or even movies. I've always been careful of what I watch and what my family watched. I prefer to see a good blend of adventure and action with my romance.

I didn't have any interest in 50 shades. Fine, what goes on in a couple's bedroom is their business, but this kinda stuff has always turned my stomach. I've always detested the whole controlled weak woman characters and victims. When I read romance I want a story about falling in love and I don't need or want a blow by blow account of their sex life--just give me enough that makes me feel good they're in a good relationship, lol!

50 shades shows just how far from normal love we've gotten and that's sad.

    1. So true. The world had become twisted and this is one of many different fruits that's come out of it.

  5. Fifty Shades is so twisted. I don't get the fascination.

  6. I've never read any of the three books and don't plan to see the movies. I only know one person who liked the books. Everyone else I know who read them talked mostly about the bad writing.

It was, after all created as Twilight fan fiction....

    1. Creepy. However, I can't see Edward tying up Bella. He seems a bit too cowardly for that.

  7. They're horribly written books by a wretchedly bad author, with a sociopath cast as a "romantic lead". I read a comment the other day that if there's a fourth book, it'll no doubt feature Christian Gray burying Ana in a shallow grave.

  8. I hated the book, and I refuse to see the movie. That's not even close to what real love is!

    1. What does love have to do with it? This is when Tina Turner's song fits.

  10. Actually, the words "love" and "romance" should not even be associated with this movie/books. I'm totally amazed, astonished--maybe even creeped out--by how some women want to see this film, or read the books. But, further, I am also shocked to see there is a trend of writing in this (not as badly, mind), sort of stuff. I don't know. Are these women on drugs? Maybe they should get some sort of help? The last thing I'd want is to be terrified, tied up, controlled, or whipped, and the only time i use a blindfold is for sleeping.

If I go into more about how badly the books were written, I'd be doing my own post.

    1. I agree. No human should be controlled that way. Wonder if future women are being set up to becoming Muslim under extreme measures.

  11. It is like shock therapy. People are always going to want to see what the talk is all about. I prefer hugs and chocolate!!

  12. I was thinking it would be great if people wound just not go see it. Then we would never have to hear anymore about 50 Shades of Gray.

  13. I have to second Yvonne's comment. That's what I was hoping would happen. Alas....

  14. I only read a few chapters in the book before I decided to put it down for good. A few weeks ago, I listened closely to the lyrics in the Eminem/ Rhianna song, and found it pretty disturbing. It's sad to think that there are young women who think it's normal to be in an abusive relationship.

  15. I guess I am the only one commenting who read this series more than once. The book originated from the writers mid life fantasy. I think in reading the books it helped knowing that it was just a fantasy although there are ppl who live that lifestyle.

Now when I was using the Nicoderm patch one of the side effects of it was vivid dreams. I had to stop wearing it overnight due to the reoccurring dreams I had of the Marlboro Man. :)

  16. Being you've only had sex with one man in your life...perhaps you should write about something you know about. This ain't it. Do I like the book or movie? No. None of your 5 daughters (or you) has ever met a billionaire...let alone shared his bed. Nuff said. It's a book and movie for ugly or fat women that need entertained and nothing else. I call it as I see it.
