Insecure Writer's Group: My Encouraging Rant

I encourage all of you not to download Windows 10. Let me tell you why...

1. I can't print anything.
2. I can't open my blog pages in Blogger or Worpress.
3. I can't download videos into Blogger from YouTube that I want to discuss and share.
4. I can't even find decent instructions on how to remedy my problems.

So I'm feeling really stupid and helpless right now. And my thumbs are sore from typing on my Saman Galaxy 5.

This post was written on behalf of Alex J. Cavanaugh ' s Insecure Writer's Group. Check him out by clicking on the icon in the upper right hand corner of your computer screen.

Hugs and chocolate, all!

  1. Hi human, Shelly,

Yes, Windows 10 can be rather a pain in the pawsterior. Windows 10 was updating and pawhaps that's what's causing your pawblems.

I know, after in updated, it changed my search engine to Bing and it took ages to get it back to Google.

All the beast, oops, all the best and who is this Alex you make note of.

    Pawsitive wishes and doggy kisses,

    Penny xx

  3. You need a tablet, Shelly. I have an HP tablet with a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard that's faster than our computer and does 99% of what the computer can do..

  5. My greatest fear - being trapped inside the cage of evil software, unable to connect to the outside world, unable to locate my helpless characters...

Thanks for this, Shelly! And nice to meet you.

    1. Not yet. I know it's going to cost me a pint of blood.

  8. I'm sorry! That's why I haven't downloaded it. I know there are still a lot of bugs.

  9. I am sorry to hear this. I have Windows 10 on my laptop and my desktop and I have no problems with it. I have had it on my laptop for weeks now too.

  10. That is so weird. I downloaded 10 a while back to both my PC and my laptop, and I haven't had any of those problem. Ugh So sorry!

  11. Updates suck! Should I say that? Well I did. If I didn't love my computers so much, I would be totally insecure about them. Plus my last career was a techie. :) So I try not to freak.

    1. I'm far from a techi. My jobs have included hairdressing, make-up, acting, modeling, paralegal, and waitressing. And of course writing.

  13. Ugh. Now I'm glad I postponed the download. I'm still on 7, but hopefully 10 will have its crap sorted out when I finally get around to buying a new computer.

  14. Yes! I hear what you're saying. I refuse to download Windows 10 on my PC or laptop. My wife has it on a laptop she recently purchased and we both hate Windows 10. We can still print, but I can not figure out how to scan things and it used to be so easy on her old computer.

I wish these companies would leave stuff alone when it's working just fine.

  15. I tried downloading and got an error message that it couldn't install. Now I feel fortunate that happened! Sorry you are having such problems with it.

  16. Well, I've downloaded Windows10 on three computers now and have not had any problems. I do use Word, Blogger, Youtube, and print OK. Have you used any of the troubleshooting guides online? Maybe you need a new driver for your printer? Maybe this points to a new dystopian story about computer upgrades that transform our world. We just went through a terrific windstorm and lost power, so I can report that no power at all was a shocking wake-up call on how dependent we are on technology. Even for cooking! So I hope these glitches do not affect your writing. Persevere!

    2. Me too, Shelly. My backup is one of those little 5x7 spiral notebooks, mostly 'to do' but scribbles on the current wip slide right between all else. I love the art journals but wind up banging the keyboard. All the best for lots of chocolate!

  17. I'm always afraid to update. I haven't done it yet. Hope you get it worked out.

  18. I didn't change when Win 8 & 9 came out. I was waiting for something better. I guess I'll have to wait for 11 now. :P

  19. It sounds like a nightmare! As it is, I'm such a techno-challenged person.
I don't intend downloading any new Windows without the assistance of my techie guy.

  20. Too late, I'm sharing in your pain as I did it too and it's super frustrating.
