Get Healthy BlogHop: Challenges

Get_Healthy_Post_Graphic

Challenges. Life is full of them. Schwoo!

Once upon a time, I used to get up 6 mornings a week and do 2 hour session workouts. Weight training. Cardio. Spin classes. Boot Camp. I was kukoo without my workouts.

Sadly, my body went kukoo from too much. That’s a challenge for me-not to over do a good thing. My adrenals got drained, and I kept losing weight even though I ate 6 times a day-small meals, of course.

So now I take a whole different approach. I do it in moderation. Everything in moderation is the best way. Moderation is the key to keeping me healthy, but its my challenge. Since I’m an overachiever.

What is yours?

If you want to start an exercise program and learn how to eat right, you can go to www.hasfit.com. The site is full of free workouts and food plans. I go there 5 days a week and spend no more than half an hour doing something.

Also, Authors for Oklahoma is still taking ebook and paperback donations to make bundles for contributions to the American Red Cross. After, Friday, May 31st, we should have enough.

  1. I used to work out like that also. My knees were the first to howl an alarm that I was overdoing it. I've found the moderation I need also.

    1. Yup. Moderation is the key to some of us folks.

  2. I've been working out since I was a kid. Once a jock, always a jock. Over the years I've made adjustments to my workouts due to the realities of aging. I don't do as many high intensity workouts anymore. Soreness is ok but pain isn't!

  3. I used to walk five miles every other day bc (before chemo). Now I feel lucky to walk around the apartment complex twice-- about a mile. I used to lift weights so that I could pass the military physical training test every six months. *sigh I need to lift weights again because the meds have really messed with my muscles and body.

    1. I so understand autoimmune. It really sucks sometimes. Your brain says one thing and your body tells you F you.

  4. I do 50 minutes of cardio a day, plus some resistance. I'm planning to add in more weight training and perhaps a workout dvd or two (alternating days and all that). I don't *think* I'll overdo it - but I have more weight to lose and need to be in better shape again!

    1. Just listen to your body. it will tell you what it needs.

  5. Everything in moderation. My exercise consists of a good deal of walking, swimming regularly through the week, and even some rock climbing when possible.

I've never gotten the sort of person who feels they need to go into a gym, but for some, that's ideal.

    1. I stopped the gym since I can't trust myself.

  6. I can't keep any sort of program. I just can't get into it. I might take walks, that's about it.

    1. I have to keep to a ritual. That works best for me.

  7. I attend martial arts classes twice a week. Other than that I don't have any other form of exercise. Sigh> wish I had the discipline to start an exercise routine.

  8. Right now my health kick is to drink more water. I'm hoping to work my way up to the 8 recommended glasses a day. It's not easy!
