Conspiracy Theories: On Behalf of the Duggars

I debated whether or not to write about the Duggars. I love their show. People who have 19 kids are either cuckoo or awesome. I have 5 and peeps think I'm insane. Whatever... This isn't why I decided to write this post.

Honestly, I feel bad for the entire family. Yes, the oldest son did some nasty things to his sisters and another girl between 2002 and 2003. He was 14 and 15 at the time. And Josh isn't hiding what he did either like a Weiner or other celebrities who have down something sexually immoral. Sadly, this is something that was taken care of a while ago whether the authorities did the right thing or not.

I guess what I want to say here is, we all have skeletons in our closets. Some of us have more than one closet full. I have a few of my own. During my teen years, I was a moron. In my twenties, I was half a moron. And even in my thirties and forties, I've had moments where I've reverted back to that moronic-state. I have several lists of sins. Trust me.

And every family has problems. I know I've shared issues on this blog about my own. Daughters number 3 and 4 struggle with drug addiction. When one appears to be doing well the other one falls completely off the wagon into the never-ending-addiction-abyss. Believe me, we all have something we're not proud of from our pasts and within our own families.

The Bible says, in Acts 13:22, that King David was a man after His (God's) own heart. But later, this man had an adulterous affair with Bathsheba, got her pregnant, and then had her husband killed in battle to cover up what he had done. But the cool thing is, God saw it all and spoke to David through a prophet.

This brought David to repentance and God forgave him. But because of his sins he experienced a lot of heartache regarding his own children. The child he conceived through adultery died. Later in life, his son Amnon raped his daughter Tamar, the sister of Absalom. And Absalom avenged his sister's rape by murdering Amnon. He also tried to have his own father killed so he could become king.

We all sin. We all fall short. We all screw up. And we all have consequences to pay even after God forgives us.

But this whole thing irks me about how the media is handling it.  Is it because Josh and his family are confessing CHRISTIANS? What if Bruce Jenner had done this when he was a 14 year-old? Would the media go after him?

Are the masses who sit in front of the boob-tube going to see every Christian as a child-molester now? Is this one more skeam to paint Christians in a bad light?

I've really been thinking long and hard about this only because so much has been happening to Christians here in America and around the world. Even our military men and women get fired for having Bibles and scripture verses on their computer screens. And of course, overseas, Christians are being crucified, burned alive, and beheaded.

What is going on here?

Anyway, before I go I'll leave you some quotes from the Bible.

Matthew 6:15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your father forgive your trespasses.

Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.

  1. So agree with the fact that Christians and Jews are being murdered all over the world right now. And no one (Obama) cares.
I believe in the idea of forgiveness
    BUT.......
I must disagree with you on the Duggars.

The Duggars are not Christians they are a cult. Along with their cult friends who live around them.
In no way having nineteen children is right. You always hear the Stepenford wife squeaking out "every child is a gift" to every question that is asked of her.
Well if that is a truth then they should have had a few children of their own and then adopted the other 16. That would be the Christian way.
Just not the mass quantity of the Dad genes out there in the world of their cult.
It seems the only children that are gifts are their children.
The world is overpopulated and to have that many children is just wrong. Food shortages, weather problems more food and housing problems and yet they keep having a child a year. Even the married son had child one year in their marriage.
Do you know they only have that home because their town (cult) help build it for them.
His job was in Real Estate. I worked in Real Estate before the bubble burst and in no way can you support 19 children and a wife on commissions. His job is to promote his family much like the in you face Karadishians.
This family is what give Christians a bad name.
Sorry I just don't agree. The Duggars are a huge migraine moment for me .
I am trying not to scream right now. Buttons pushed.

I hope you don't mind my first disagreement with you.
    cheers, parsnip

    1. No. I don't mind. My main concern about this issue is will people hate Christians all the more? Will people see them as abusers and crazy and the cause of all the problems in the world? Was this one more nail in the coffin for Christians?

By the way, 2 pastors are scheduled to be executed in the Sudan.

  2. Sorry, but I have to agree with Gayle on this one, Shelly. But I'm biased. I'd like to see all of these dumb reality shows bite the dust!

    1. I agree with you on that one. Reality shows suck. My point is is this Duggar issue going to be used to blacklist Christians further?

  3. I have to disagree. These people aren't Christians... they're a cult. And some things can never, ever be forgiven. Josh Duggar deserves every bit of scorn he will get for the rest of his life.

    1. My other concern is how Christians will be treated in this country because of this issue.

    2. One of the problems is that they're treating this like there should be no consequences to their actions- his molestation and their coverup. They just say he's squared it away with God, and we should take their word for it. The other problem is that the parents are making it all about him and treating the victims, including their daughters, like an afterthought. It's a cult mentality that treats women as nothing more than breeders, which I find absolutely reprehensible.

    3. But are we being told everything. The State doesn't fix anything. I know that from personal experience. How can we come to any conclusion that these girls were ignored? We really don't. We only know what the media has told us. That's my opinion.

  4. Just because you've chosen to have 19 children doesn't mean you're a cult. That is ridiculous. No way would I birth 19 children or adopt that many either, but I think the parents are as much Christian as most. Whatever that means. My great grandfather had around that number of children with two separate wives (first one died). It certainly wasn't look upon as a cult back then.

Christians are persecuted in America, too, although it's more with lip service than torture and beheading.

    1. It is not just the 19 kid that I think makes them a cult. it is all the same like thinking "friends" that live around them.
It is the semi-Christian babble that flows from their mouths. The brain washed Mother "children are a gift"
      comment to every question.
Like I said if you beliveve that, have two of your own have a vasectomy and adopt the other 17. Their is nothing Christian about these people.
I am a Christian and I am nothing like this cult.
If what ever channel runs this show did not pay them then at lest 5 of their children would not have been born.
Like the illegals of my state that have a baby as soon as they cross the border, they do it for money.
a child= money for illegals. Child=money for the Duggers
They are having babies to be on TV an make money with their brainwashed children.
In years ago when we were an agrarian society you had more children to work the farm. And because of high death rate of young children You had 10 children maybe 4 lived.
In today's world no one should have that many children.

  5. I think the parents are crazy. No one can handle that many kids. And while I did some dumb things at that age, molesting girls was never something that even crossed my mind.
In other areas, yes, I do think Christians aren't getting a fair shake. We're like the last open target out there and no one cares.

  6. Being on this side of the Atlantic I've never heard of the Duggers, but that many kids does seem a lot, but not as many as the fourty, one man and his wives have over here. they're only famous for their complaints about only getting £70,000 per year Child Support Allowance.

  7. Honestly, I haven't bothered to read up enough to actually bother with reading the whole story, but I do think that, as you said, people live with the consequences of what they've done. He has to live with the consequences. Although it's sad that his choices are going to ripple through to his family as well.

Honestly, I think people will attack and tear down any "personality" with this sort of skeleton in the closet, regardless of faith.

People do, however, seem to put the Christianity of all types and beliefs on in the same box. Which means that if one normal Christian falters the way all people do, he/she does get treated like this huge hypocrite just because the actual hypocritical Christians are the loudest.

It sucks. But then, the same happens to Muslims too.

  8. I agree with Misha, so I'm not going to repeat that. I'm not Christian, but I don't hold something like this against all people in a specific group. I don't hold all Muslims accountable for terrorists either. It seems to me that this is between him and his family, at this point, not my business. So I haven't bothered to read the articles. I don't know so much if the outcry is about them being Christian, though, or because they practice a way of life different than people might be comfortable with, so they've maybe been looking for something "wrong" with the whole thing. Do you know what I mean? Like they've been waiting for the fatal flaw to say "Oh, yes, see, this is different, therefore it's weird, and here's proof that weird and different are bad." I just feel we strike out against those things we're not comfortable with.

  9. Hi, Shelly,

As you stated we are HUMAN and we all make mistakes. And most people learn from them and have some remorse because basically most people are good. At least I'd like to believe that.

I've just recently experienced the STING of cruelty. And I ask "How can they live with themselves treating people like this?" They will and they do.

As for Christians. WE have been the blunt of torment, ridicule, and torture for centuries. All we can do is live as best we can under the circumstance of what life throws in our way.

  10. Yes, if Bruce Jenner had done it, the media would be after him too. There's nothing the media (and viewers) love more than a scandal. I agree we all have flaws and things we've done wrong. But most of us don't set ourselves up as perfect, role models, and holier-than-thou. Those that do can expect a lot of fallout when they're exposed, like Catholic priests, politicians, Jim Bakker, and the Duggars, to name a few. If you spend a lot of time publicizing your judgments and hatred of others, you shouldn't be surprised when others' judgment and hatred come back to bite you.

    1. I hate scandals. But I don't believe the Duggars are hateful. Maybe a bit naive. This scandal happened in 2002-2003 when Josh was 14/15. I've since listened to the parent's interview, and no one denies the wrong done. But they took care of it and the girls weren't damaged by it. Christians are forgiven not perfect. They stand before God not on their own works but on what Yeshua did on the cross and His resurrection.
